Investing in the path of a BOOM!

Do you remember when a major key to property investment success was largely driven by 'who you knew'?

Rewind just 10 or 15 years and you would find that many of the most successful investors had great relationships with key people on local councils. These relationships provided them with valuable information on where the local growth corridors would soon appear and why these councils were preparing to spend large budgets on the infrastructure required to support this growth. Investor who held this knowledge and then used this information to purchase properties directly in the path of this growth are now very wealthy and powerful individuals.

Today it's much easier for investors to arm themselves with a clear blueprint that highlights the designated growth corridors and specific population growth forecasts nationally. This data is often so detailed and well considered, it provides the necessary confidence required to see huge investment spent on major infrastructure required to accommodate a looming population boom.

SEQ prepares to explode.

No region is set to change more over the coming years than South East Queensland.

Queensland Government Statistician’s Office figures, show the capital city’s population will swell by almost 400,000 people over the next 25 years, making the Brisbane City Council area home to 1.5 million. The Gold Coast population will hit almost one million people by 2041, while the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and Logan are expected to reach 500,000 people, about the size of the Gold Coast now.

Over the next 25 years, the number of people living in the Sunshine State is predicted to grow by 2.3 million to 7.1 million, but with 71% of the states population currently choosing to reside in SEQ, this region is set for a staggering level of growth. Suburbs will soar skywards and cities will spring out of paddocks as millions of extra people squeeze into the southeast corner. Data from the State Statistician's Office reveals the enormous extent of the expected explosion in the region's population hotspots.

A great example of the preparation underway for the growth expected in SEQ is highlighted in the most recent update on Australia's top Infrastructure Priority Projects in 2020. There are 23 projects that make this list and almost half (11) are located in QLD.
