Reviewing Your Support Network:
You know there's a whole range of people that don't ever get into the market or when they do get into the market, they've got so much negative energy around them that it almost feels like every bump in the road is going to be filled with pain.
So if you can relate to this, and the fact that there may be people in your life that are holding you back, I think this is fundamental to address as soon as you can.
Now I've distanced myself from people over the years, or there have been people I've had to avoid because they were so passionate about trying to hold me back that it just wasn't a healthy relationship to have.
Of course, that's not always easy with family and close friends so you may just have to choose your conversations.
But you need to be aware of it.
They could be people that are holding you back because they have a very different perception of the world, or perhaps they are jealous or possibly just negative people. Whatever that might be, don't underestimate the impact they can have on your life.
Developing a Support System
I think you should be aiming to develop a support team.
Now, over the years, I've developed a community of property investors that have gone on to support each other.
We've had some challenging times, and it hasn't always been rosy, but together it's almost felt easy because we're there to support the ebbs and flows of property cycles and so forth.
Now we look back and go, well, look at the wealth that we've created.
So developing a support network is essential.
As I said, you might have people that you know or have in your life currently that you may not be able to have specific conversations with, but you need to have around.
You need to find mentors or people that have a common interest with you and if property investing is your thing, then please add to that network.
It's going to help the success that you'll be able to enjoy going forward.
I do however, encourage you to go back and share your journey with those people that may have been negative at the start.
I've had several people that have told me I was crazy for buying specific properties. Thought I was spending too much in a particular market or that it was a silly investment choice. But years later, those properties have turned out to be very good choices.
Rather than rub it in their face, I've chosen times to be able to bring back conversations about how I made those investment choices and increased my wealth substantially, remembering how much they judged me at the time.
I think we should try to give people the opportunity to adjust their mindset.
So if you've got family, friends, and people that you don't have any choice but to have in your world and as you gain knowledge as a property investor, try to find the situations to share your journey with those people. You never know, they may end up becoming one of the people that are very much part of your community of support as you move forward.
